Versatile City is firing up its flagship summer DJ competition to discover and crown the next star behind the decks for the station. DJs submit original mixes, the community + judges vote, and winners earn airplay, prizes, and potential ongoing features. This is an online-only summer showdown, with all shortlisted/qualifying mixes streamed live (or simulcast) on the Versatile City website to bring that real-time tropical energy straight to listeners worldwide.

Eligibility

Open to DJs worldwide (amateur to semi-pro) Age 18+ Mixes must be original (no direct rips from commercial releases without proper rights consideration) Genres: Flexible — lean into summer-friendly vibes (house, dancehall, soca-infused electronic, afrobeat, tropical house, reggaeton, hip-hop, or multi-genre summer anthems)

Competition Structure (Phases)

Submission Phase (Weeks 1–3)

DJs upload a 30–45 minute summer-themed mix to Mixcloud, SoundCloud, or YouTube (unlisted if preferred). Required title format: “Versatile City Summer Throwdown 2026 – [DJ Name/Handle] – [Mix Title]” Required tag/hashtag: #VCSummerThrowdown2026 Submit entry via our Form on the Versatile City website. Limit: 1 entry per DJ.

Qualifiers / Shortlist Phase (Weeks 4–5)

Station team + guest judges pre-select the top 16–24 mixes based on the same criteria (mixing quality, track selection, creativity, vibe, production). Announce qualifiers weekly on air + socials, with hype for the upcoming live streams.

Public Voting + Judge Scoring Phase (Weeks 6–8)

All shortlisted mixes get featured in rotation on Versatile City, and streamed live on the Versatile City website (scheduled slots like “Summer Throwdown Live Hour”). Public vote (50% weight): Via website poll, Instagram Stories, or dedicated voting page. Judge score (50% weight): Panel of 3–5 (Versatile City DJs, guest pros, local/international summer scene reps). Top 8 advance to semi-finals (or top 4 to final).

Live Final Showdown (Week 9–10)

Epic live-streamed battle on Versatile City website (plus Twitch/YouTube simulcast if desired). Each finalist plays a 20–30 minute live set (or pre-recorded with live commentary). Real-time voting during/after + judge input. Crown the winner live at the end with summer fireworks energy!
